Struggling with Mathematics. Why?

Warm greetings to the student Community!!

This blog is for you!

The elegance of mathematics is evident in the fact that it tends to invoke within you the tendency to grasp the truth. It's not like the subject is hard. But the fact is that truth had always been comparatively hard to grasp

The reason for this can be any of the following:

  • Attention difficulties: Mathematics frequently involves multi-step problems, and students must be able to complete numerous successive processes in order to find a solution. This is one reason why math is difficult to learn. This necessitates maintaining constant attention on the current work. When teaching difficult arithmetic concepts, pupils frequently become distracted and lose focus during the class.
  • Patience is the key: Simply said, many pupils don't practise arithmetic ideas enough. Other students might not be aware that they need more time to review specific topics. When attempting to solve an issue on their own, a student may feel as though they comprehend the concept, but they are unsure of where to start (or end up struggling through the process). After witnessing their teacher explain the topic in class, students frequently feel confident, only to discover that performing it on their own can be far more difficult.
  • Knowing what you did in past, is important:  Maths always builds upon previous concepts. If the student doesn't do timely revision and is unable to retain the concepts previously taught, he/she may end up in a dilemma when studying the next concept. This is one of the core reasons that hinder the understanding process and as everything is sequential in mathematics, you end up finding it hard.
  • "Do I really ever need mathematics in my day-to-day life?":  This is a classic line of almost every student. Let me put an example to make you realize the same. The students struggling with fractions find it hard to understand how 4/8 is equal to 1/2.  However, they quickly realise that 4 pieces would be half the pizza when picturing an 8-slice pizza. For a learner to properly comprehend the content, they must be able to see how mathematical principles connect to everyday situations. The subject itself is somewhat complicated, and now the naive rebuttal of "how does it actually matter" has been added. The students' attitude of disinterest is intensified as a result.
Observation is an internal phenomenon and it differs from merely seeing.

Do not worry! If you found it tough in the beginning!!

We are humans and within this human body, God has given us all the necessary ingredients upon which we can build and evolve. Sometimes, we can do this on our own, and at other times, we need someone credible and experienced to be around us to facilitate the process.
Also, it is a truth that the most evolved species is the ultimate survivor. Mathematics is a subject for those who are willing to challenge their capabilities and evolve themselves. Keep evolving and acknowledging abstract!!
